yesterday in the inner sanctum, one of the cards we pulled was called “impatience,” and the member it was pulled for spoke about a couple areas in both life + biz where they’re currently contending with feelings of impatience in a big way

the biz one had to do with the double-edged slowdown that may come with doing business your own way instead of relying on the traditionally-held plans + strategies that seem to lead to quicker growth

(or sometimes they may actually BE quicker, but in ways that sacrifice your values or wellbeing in ways you’re no longer willing to do)

especially when business is down or growth is slow, it can be tempting to fall back on other people’s tried-and-trues, to let the fear that you’re doing it wrong keep you from doing it well

i love the way sanctum members step up for + with each other, to bolster your bold moves + be with you on the path as you KEEP making them — weathering the what ifs together, holding hearts grown tender from the fight, and cheering all the big + small wins along the way

often members will point out wins that you had glossed over in the telling, because WOW do we love to diminish our wins + take them for granted 😱

well… not on the sanctum’s watch lol

but back to those slowdowns. progress can feel slower when you’re consciously choosing NOT to use tactics that, although often effective, feel crappy

and if the work you actually do is ALSO counterculture, it can feel even tougher to build momentum

we talk a lot in biz about the power of niching, and it’s true that getting very specific about who you serve + speaking directly to their needs can be super effective

this is especially important for against-the-grain-ers who are actively serving their clients in ways that consciously divest from harmful norms + cultural status quos

they’ve got very specific, important reasons to follow + work with you as opposed to other folks, and you need to make sure they know what they can expect with you

i will say though, that even though niching is the power move — there’s an ease inherent in marketing to the masses that you may be subconsciously yearning for!

at rest, the general population of customers + clients are culturally more primed to buy from messaging that speaks to the masses

so if your magic runs counter to that, the masses won’t be quick to “get” it

or they may be flat out not interested

which can feel like the biggest obstacle ever but is, in fact, a gift

because when you lean in to spreading YOUR message, the ones who resonate will resonate HARD

enter… the power of niching for rebels against norms

you may feel like you need to “tone it down” in your everyday life, that you + your big bold ideas are “too much” for family or acquaintances

but in your business, you get to go all-in on it — in fact, you NEED to in order to get on the radars you want to be on

not from a place of look at me, look at me or needing to prove anything to anyone

from a place of unrestrained, unapologetic surrender to your beliefs

and ahhhhhhh what a fresh breath of relief + peace

so while it can feel SUPER FREAKING SCARY to go HARDER on your counterculture message, that might be exactly what needs to happen to light up your new wave of community + clients

one more thing that’s vital to remember… by and large, LOTS of people are experiencing a slowdown at the moment, whether or not they’re talking about it

it can seem like the most common of sense to blame your rebellious ways for slowdowns when slowdowns are also just part of the landscape we face

in the sanctum sometimes we talk about the mindset + intentions side of our biz, sometimes we talk strategy

often it’s a beautiful mix of both
